The Finest Automobile Auctions held its 61-lot ‘Aspen Snowmass’ sale on 17 September where the star performer was an 18,910-mile 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series, one of 350 examples produced, which found a new home at $220,000 (estimate $235,000 – 265,000).
Success among the Ferraris on offer included a 2000 550 Maranello at $170,000 (estimate $195,000 – 210,000); a manual gearbox 2005 F430 at $135,000 (estimate $155,000 – 175,000); and a 17,004-mile 2004 360 at $115,500 (estimate $130,000 – 160,000).
Other highlights included a recently restored 30,570-mile 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL fetching $121,000 (estimate $140,000 – 165,000); a 1971 Alfa Romeo Montreal offered at no reserve went for $83,600; a 1951 Jaguar Mk V Drophead Coupe which has travelled less than 1,000 miles since a comprehensive restoration made $80,000 (estimate $110,000 – 130,000); and a 1974 BMW 2002 tii sold for $44,000 (estimate $45,000 – 55,000).
The Finest Automobiles Auctions reported total sales of $2.8 million with a 68% sell through rate.
