Silverstone Auctions reported total sales in excess of £2.5 million at their single-marque Porsche auction on 21 October. Top lot on the day was a 36,210-mile 1998 911 Turbo S which made £253,125 (estimate £245,000 – 285,000).
Other Strong results included a 1992 911 RS Touring at £219,375 (estimate £185,000 – 210,000); an 87,000-mile 1981 924 Carrera GT at £37,688 (estimate £30,000 – 35,000); and a 1973 911 modified to 2.8 RSR spec which crept above its lower estimate, going for £81,000 (estimate £80,000 – 100,000).
A 27,300-mile 1987 Ford Sierra RS Cosworth fetched £42,900 at Brightwells Modern Classics sale on 19 October (estimate £42,500 – 45,500); while a 1997 Aston Martin DB7 sold for £22,000 (estimate £23,000 – 25,000) and a three-owner 46,500-mile 2004 Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG took £20,900 (estimate £21,000 – 23,000).
Bicester Heritage hosted Brightwells’ second sale of the month, where a right-hand drive 51,500-mile 1976 Ferrari 308 GTB Vetroresina achieved £134,200 (estimate £120,000 – 140,000); a 1937 Autovia which had covered just 1,000 miles since 1946 sold for £82,500 (estimate £80,000 – 100,000); and a 1937 Alvis 4.3 Sports Saloon by Charlesworth changed hands for £66,000 (estimate £60,000 – 70,000).
Star performer at SWVA’s 27 October sale was a restored 1963 Daimler SP250, comfortably exceeding its £33,000 – 35,000 pre-sale estimate, recording a sale at £41,000.
A 1957 Alvis TC108/G by Willowbrook headed the results at Richard Edmonds on 28 October, finding a new home at £53,000 (estimate £55,000 – 60,000). The car is believed to be one just four surviving examples and has a known history from new.
