A left-hand drive Aston Martin DB5, built for the 1964 Paris Motor Show, was the undoubted star at Artcurial’s 10th ‘Automobile sur les Champs’ sale on 30 October, where it sold for €667,520 (estimate €550,000 – 650,000).
Other highlights included a 1964 Alpine M64, with period competition history, taking €369,520 (estimate €330,000 – 380,000); a 1927 Bugatti Type 40 spéciale making a mid-estimate €274,160; a 1976 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0, prepared to RSR Group V spec by the Alméras brothers in 2016, fetched €226,480 (estimate €190,000 – 260,000); and a 1962 Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8 coupé went for €107,280 (estimate €45,000 – 65,000).
Earlier in the month Artcurial held their 80-lot André Weber sale, all cars being offered with no reserve. Highlights included a 1932 Packard 904 Victoria Convertible, the top sale of the day, at €53,504 (estimate €50,000 – 80,000); a 1951 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith Limousine at €37,696 (estimate €30,000 – 40,000); a circa 1935 Talbot T120 at €35,264 (estimate €20,000 – 30,000); and a 1938 Panhard Panoramique X73 which made over double its high estimate, selling for €26,752.
Porsches claimed the top three spots at Bonhams Zoute Sale in Belgium on 7 October; a four-owner 1955 356 ‘Pre-A’ Speedster selling for €586,500 (estimate €350,000 – 550,000); the first 2016 911 R to be offered at auction, number 135 from a production run of 991 cars, made an estimate-busting €483,000 (estimate €250,000 – 350,000); and a 79,000-km 1989 911 Turbo Targa changed hands for €304,750 (estimate €250,000 – 300,000).
Other sale highlights included a three-owner 1957 Alfa Romeo 1900C Super Sprint at €235,750 (estimate €180,000 – 200,000); an ex-Derek Bell 1987 Porsche 928 'Prototype' Club Sport at €253,000 (estimate €225,000 – 265,000); a 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 3.5 coupé at €74,750 (estimate €90,000 – 130,000); and a BMW 2002 Baur Cabriolet at €52,900 (estimate €35,000 – 45,000).
Auctionata held two sales in October, where notable highlights included an ex-Dionne Warwick 1971 Rolls-Royce Corniche Convertible making a mid-estimate €54,050; a 1972 Alfa Romeo Montreal fetching €46,000 (estimate €24,000 – 30,000); and a 1976 Porsche 934 Turbo replica sold for €253,000 (estimate €224,000 – 280,000).
