A concours-winning 1949 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Super Sport Cabriolet carried off the honours for the top price achieved at Bonhams’ Greenwich sale on 2 June, bringing $417,500 (estimate $400,000 – 500,000).


European machinery dominated the results with a 1924 Bentley 3/5.3 Litre Le Mans Replica at $390,000 (estimate $375,000 – 450,000); a non-matching numbers 1971 Maserati Ghibli 4.9 SS at $156,500 (estimate $175,000 – 225,000); a 1961 Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8 ‘Flat Floor’ Coupe with a recent $27,000 overhaul made $123,200 (estimate $130,000 – 160,000); and a P&A Wood-restored 1961 Bentley S2 Continental Coupe blitzed its $165,000 – 195,000 guide, recording a sale at $246,400.

A 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback was the top ‘American’ result at $161,280 (estimate $200,000 – 250,000); while other Fords finding new homes included a 1965 Galaxie 500 M-Code "Cammer" at $112,000 (estimate $300,000 – 400,000) and a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette 327/360hp Roadster at $75,040 (estimate $90,000 – 120,000).
