Artcurial’s 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB pre-sale star brought €1,930,800 at their Paris auction on 17 June, against a guide of €1,900,000 – 2,300,000.
Both Maserati on offer found new homes, a matching-numbers restoration project 1969 Ghibli 4.7 drew €95,360 (estimate €70,000 – 100,000), and a 32,800-km 1992 Shamal – one of 369 produced – fetched €65,560 (estimate €60,000 – 80,000).
Success among the Porsches included a three-owner 12,000-km 2006 Carrera GT at a mid-estimate €643,680; a 7,200-km 2011 911 Speedster smashed its €225,000-275,000 estimate, going for €294,424; and a 1996 911 RS Club Sport that was restored in 2015 by Porsche Rouen at a cost of some €80,000 made €292,040 (estimate €275,000 – 325,000).
A Bugatti Type 35B that was constructed in the 1970s using an Alan Wragg chassis sold for bang on its lower estimate of €400,000 at Osenat on 15 June.
The sale also featured a 1956 Porsche 356 1600 A – restored by Vintech and presented in its original shade of Sahara Beige – which raised €174,000 (estimate €150,000 – 180,000). The car was delivered new to California, remaining in the US until being imported into France in 2012.
Top performer at Aguttes’ Paris sale on 23 June was a competition-spec 1962 Jaguar E-Type 3.8 Coupe which took €139,540 (estimate €130,000 – 170,000).
Aguttes’ 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Gr. 4/5 with period competition history achieved €102,000 (estimate €120,000 – 150,000), while a 1982 De Tomaso Pantera GT5 sold for €106,500 (estimate €110,000 – 130,000).
Notable above-estimate sales included a three-owner 91,100-km 1995 Ferrari 456 GT at €66,380 (estimate €50,000 – 60,000); a 1964 Facel Vega Facel III at €77,000 (estimate €60,000 – 80,000); and a 1967 Fiat Dino 2.0 Coupe which had covered less than 4,000km since being restored by the vendor – a former Fiat dealer – garnered an impressive €86,440 (estimate €60,000 – 80,000).
Bonhams returned to Chantilly on 30 June where the standout result was a 1952 Gordini Type 15S at €690,000 (estimate €700,000 – 1,000,000). Chassis 04 GC was campaigned from 1948 by Fangio, Behra and Wimille among others in its first iteration as a single-seater, prior to being converted into a barquette bodied sports-racer in 1952, when the chassis was renumbered ‘18 S’. Its well-documented history included entries at Le Mans in 1952 and ’53, plus two appearances at Dundrod’s Tourist Trophy.
Elsewhere a 1962 Citroën DS 19 Décapotable sold for €178,250 (estimate €170,000 – 200,000); a 1947 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Sport Cabriolet 'Extralusso' went for €210,000 (estimate €250,000 – 300,000); and a left-hand drive 1953 Aston Martin DB2/4 changed hands for €207,000 (estimate €190,000 – 240,000).
