Star of the European sales in June was the eagerly awaited 1939 Bugatti Type 57C Cabriolet from the Jacques Liscourt Collection, which made an estimate-busting €1,269,000 at Osenat (estimate €500,000 – 700,000).
Other strong results included a 1927 Tracta Type A-Gephy – with period Le Mans history – at €705,264 (estimate €500,000 – 700,000); a 1930 Bugatti Type 44 at €288,000 (estimate €180,000 – 230,000); and a 1963 Rolls-Royce Phantom V at €144,000 (estimate €60,000 – 80,000).
Elsewhere highlights included a 1927 Turcat-Méry VG taking €108,000 (estimate €80,000 – 100,000); a 1967 Fiat Dino Spider fetching a mid-estimate €99,600; and a 1954 Jaguar XK 120 SE Roadster went for €90,000 (estimate €75,000 – 85,000).
A 74,000-km 1993 Mercedes-Benz E60 AMG headed the results at Aguttes on 10 June, selling for €140,120 (estimate €90,000 – 120,000); while a 1982 Renault 5 Turbo achieved €96,120 (estimate €90,000 – 120,000) and a 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL changed hands for €90,120 (estimate €55,000 – 75,000).
Other sale highlights included a 1967 Peugeot 404 Cabriolet – recently emerging from long term storage – at €38,520 (estimate €10,000 – 15,000); a 1960 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider at €69,720 (estimate €50,000 – 70,000); and a 1987 BMW M3 at €54,120 (estimate €45,000 – 65,000.
British marques were well represented at Oldtimer Galerie’s Dolder Classics auction on 17 June. A 1952 Jaguar XK 120 3.4 Roadster posted the top sale at CHF120,000 (estimate CHF135,000 – 145,000); a 1978 Rolls-Royce Camargue brought CHF82,500 (estimate CHF90,000 – 100,000); and a 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk III realised CHF72,500 (estimate CHF75,000 – 80,000).
Stanislas Machoïr’s sale of the Alexis Dreye Collection on 28 June saw the star lot, a Voisin C18 V12 Coupe, smash its €500,000 – 800,000 estimate, selling for €900,000. There was similar strong demand for the 1929 Gar Type B5 which changed hands for over three times its lower estimate, finding a new home at €105,600.
