Top sale at Artcurial’s ‘Automobiles sur les Champs 8’ auction was a 1991 Ferrari F40, showing 8,510km from new, which made €1,013,200 (estimate €900,000 – 1,100,000). However, a 1925 Bugatti Type 13 Brescia in 'barn-find' condition caused the greatest stir, achieving a sale at €834,400, smashing the high estimate of €250,000.
One-owner vehicles commanded strong money, with a 1976 Maserati Khamsin taking €274,160 against a pre-sale estimate of €140,000 – 180,000) and a 27,000-km 1972 Fiat 2400 Spider achieving an astonishing €188,336 (estimate €70,000 – 90,000).
Other highlights included the 1966 Alpine A210, which competed in the 1966 and 1967 Le Mans 24 Hour races, selling for €476,800 (estimate €300,000 – 500,000) and a 1962 Lancia Flaminia Sport Zagato taking €464,880 – easily beating the high estimate of €360,000. Top Porsche honours went to the 1970 Porsche 911 S/T which made €905,920 (estimate €770,000 – 920,000), helping Artcurial achieve 71 sales for a total of €11.2million.
Two lots claimed top honours at Oldtimer Galerie’s auction at the Dolder Classics – a 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 and a 1958 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL, both making CHF 975,000. A 1938 BMW 327/328 sold for CHF 485,000, against an estimate of CHF 375,000 – 400,000, whilst modern classics included a 2006 Ford GT which took CHF 210,000 and a 1993 Jaguar XJ220 finding a new home at CHF 325,000.
