Artcurial’s new biennial Monaco sale on 2 July provided the month’s top result; its 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 RSR, with an impressive period race history, changing hands for €1,769,280 – comfortably above the pre-sale estimate of €1,400,000 – 1,600,000.
Success among the modern inventory on offer included a one-owner 4,200-km 2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale Aperta, one of just 499 examples produced, which made €539,640 (estimate €500,000 – 700,000); an ex-Team Zakspeed 2005 Saleen S7 R, with three victories in period in the FIA GT Championship, sold for €431,712 (estimate €400,000 – 600,000); and a 7,750-mile 2005 Ford GT took €347,768 (estimate €300,000 – 350,000).
A 1967 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2, comprehensively restored in 2014, brought €383,744 (estimate €340,000 – 380,000); while a 1958 Lancia Aurelia B24S Cabriolet, in the same family ownership since 1968, sold for €233,844 (estimate €220,000 – 280,000) and a 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8 Roadster made a mid-estimate €167,888.
Strong results among the ‘youngtimers’ included a 168,000-km 1990 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II at €137,908, smashing its €50,000 – 80,000 estimate; an ex-Johnny Hallyday 1991 Porsche 928 GT – with 119,500km on the clock – at €73,151 (estimate €50,000 – 70,000); and a two-owner 1982 Renault 5 Turbo Client-competition "Cévennes" at €167,888 (estimate €110,000 – 160,000).
