The star attraction at this year’s Paris sales didn’t dissapoint on the day, Artcurial’s fabulous 1939 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B bringing a well deserved €16,745,600 against a guide of €16,000,000 – 22,000,000.
Sharing the headlines for the stand out result was a 1966 Serenissima Spyder which blitzed its €1,300,000 – 1,800,000 estimate, changing hands for €4,218,800. As the sole surviving spyder of two built, chassis 005 features an aluminium body by Fantuzzi and remains largely untouched since competing in the 1966 Le Mans 24 Hours.
A 1971 Porsche 916 Prototype took €928,000 (estimate €800,000 – 1,200,000). Christened "Brutus" by its first owner – Corina Piëch from the Piëch/Porsche dynasty – the car is unique among the 11 prototypes for being the only example fitted with a factory 2.9-litre injection RSR engine. Following a three year restoration, the consignor exhibited the 916 at the Amelia Island Concours in 2017 and subsequently at Porsche's North American Headquarters in Atlanta.
Artcurial’s Rétromobile auction generated €42.3 million, with a 76% sell-through rate.
RM Sotheby’s 1987 Ferrari F40 LM set a new world record for the model at auction, selling for €4,842,500 (estimate €4,500,000 – 5,500,000).

Strong demand among the first 25 entries offered from the 140-car Youngtimer Collection saw notable prices achieved for a 27,731-km 1989 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC 6.0 AMG 'Wide-Body' at €297,500 – a new record (estimate €150,000 – 200,000); a 47,000-km 1994 BMW Alpina B12 5.7 Coupe, one of 57 built, fetched a mid-estimate €207,000; and a 17,000-km 1992 Porsche 928 GTS went for €138,000 (estimate €70,000 – 85,000).
