Aguttes led the European auction results in December, posting a €3.2 million sale total and an 83% sell-through rate in Paris. Top honours went to the catalogue cover star, a two-owner 39,500-km 1985 Peugeot 205 Turbo 16, that soared past its pre-sale estimate of €170,000 – 200,000, taking €291,760.
Strong demand also saw a 1968 Chevron B8 with period competition history hammered away for €255,480 (estimate €200,000 – 230,000); a 1972 Fiat Dino Spider 2400, owned by the vendor since 2001, fetched €189,100 (estimate €90,000 – 120,000); and a recently restored 1934 Bentley 3½ Litre Park Ward made close to three times its estimate at €157,164.
A 26,200-km 1993 Lamborghini Diablo from the 6-car ‘Fast & Exotic Collection’ changed hands at €100,600 (estimate €115,000 – 135,000). The European-spec Diablo spent much of its life with a collector in Japan, before being purchased at auction in 2015 by the consignor. Since then it has been regularly exercised and well maintained, with close to €45,000 invested in a mechanical overhaul between 2016 and 2018.
Other highlights from the collection included a 1969 Shelby GT500 making its top estimate at €129,196, a three-owner 1992 Ferrari 512 TR with 59,119km at €100,600 (estimate €100,000 – 140,000), and an 18,927-km 1989 Ferrari 328 GTB at €101,780 (estimate €90,000 – 120,000).

A 1956 Austin-Healey 100 BN1 which had been upgraded to M-spec during a recently completed three-year restoration at a cost of some €115,000 also found a new home, selling for €82,248 (estimate €70,000 – 90,000); while a restored 1957 Facel Vega FV4 headed the French machinery on offer at €160,920 (estimate €150,000 – 180,000).
