Significant prices were achieved when 13 no-reserve cars from The Wiesenthal Collection went under the hammer at Dorotheum’s 1 December sale in Vienna. A 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing – restored in the 1990s – topped the results at the single-marque auction, drawing €1,492,600 (estimate €900,000 – 1,200,000).
The unrestored 1957 300 SL Roadster also trounced its guide, selling for €1,123,000 (estimate €750,000 – 950,000).
Other highlights included a 1964 600 Pullman which made €383,800 (estimate €180,000 – 260,000) and a 1970 280 SE 3.5 Cabriolet at €372,600 (estimate €240,000 – 320,000); while a 1958 220 SE Coupe which had been owned by the Wiesenthal company from new attracted huge demand, quickly surpassing its €45,000 – 65,000 estimate with a final selling price of €171,000.
Overall the sale generated €4.95 million.
