Brightwells’ August timed-online auction saw a left-hand drive Mercedes-Benz 230 SL heading the results; the late-production 1966 example with an engine swap from a 280 SL exceeded its £38,000 – 40,000 estimate, fetching £42,560.
Other success included a concours-winning Triumph TR3A at £27,440 (estimate £28,000 – 32,000), a left-hand drive 1992 Opel Lotus Omega showing 121,062km at £25,760 (estimate £29,000 – 34,000), and a 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Cabriolet at £25,213 (estimate £26,000 – 30,000).

A barely-used 2007 Jaguar XKR 4.2 found a new home at H&H’s online auction on 19 August, selling for £28,125 (estimate £20,000 – 25,000). Finished in special-order Botanical Green, the one-owner coupe had covered just 4,500 miles from new having been stored since 2013.
A 1915 Hupmobile Model HA Tourer that resided with the MacFlynn family since it arrived in Dublin in 1915 went for £24,750 (estimate £20,000 – 24,000); a 34,500-mile 1998 BMW Z3M Roadster took £23,625 (estimate £23,000 – 26,000); and a 1973 Mercedes-Benz 280 CE, given a glass-out repaint some 12 years ago but in need of recommissioning, drew £14,625 (estimate £15,000 – 17,000).

Top lot at Mathewsons’ 22 August sale was a 2005 Aston Martin DB9, changing hands for £27,275 (estimate £23,000 – 25,000), followed by a 138,000-mile 1984 Porsche 911 Targa making its estimate at £25,225, and a 1967 Jaguar Mk II at £23,600 (estimate £19,500 – 22,500).

A 17,576-mile 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster brought £91,500 at Anglia Car Auctions’ August sale (estimate £88,000 – 98,000). Supplied new to South Africa, it was imported into the UK in 2016 and was last serviced at DD Classics in 2019.
