Top lot at the Historics at Brooklands sale on 29 August was a 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Sport Targa, the subject of a ground up restoration by Porsche Brooklands and now showing zero recorded miles, which sold for £115,360 (estimate £80,000 – 90,000). Among the lots exceeding expectations was a 1966 Morris Mini Cooper S, taking £34,720 against a pre-sale estimate of £19,000 – 24,000 and a 1990 Alfa Romeo SZ which changed hands for £29,120 (estimate £20,000 – 25,000).

Classic Car Auctions’ two-day sale at CarFest resulted in a sale rate of more than 70% and a sale total in excess of £900,000. Contributing to the total was the 1965 Morris Mini Moke, which starred in cult TV series The Prisoner, selling for £13,750; a 1997 Ferrari F355 Spider fetching £45,100 (estimate £45,000 – 55,000); a 741-mile 1983 Austin Metro Vanden Plas 500 achieved £7,700; and the top lot of the sale – a 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 Roadster – which made £58,300 (estimate £65,000 – 75,000).

Over 270 cars went under the hammer at ACA’s 22 August sale. Star attraction was a 2001 BMW Z8 which sold for a mid-estimate £152,250, whilst other notable sales included a 63,000-mile 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 at £42,000 (estimate £45,000 – 55,000) and a 51,200-mile 1985 BMW M635 CSi made £29,925 (estimate £25,000 – 30,000).
Strong demand for low-mileage '80s ‘hot hatches’ saw a one-owner 1995 Renault Clio Williams 2 with only 5990 miles from new sell for £15,264 at Morris Leslie’s 29 August sale (estimate £15,000 – 17,000).
