The focus in Europe centred on Coys’ 18 April sale at Techno Classica, Essen. Headlining the results was a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing which sold for a mid-estimate €1,088,405. A 1988 example of Porsche’s highly desirable 959 model made €904,500 whilst a 50,000-km 1995 911RS achieved €333,080 (estimate €280,000 – 330,000).

A Ferrari 308 GTB Group 4 estimated at €125,0000 – 160,000 failed to find a buyer as did a number of Porsche 911s, notably a 1976 RS and a 1992 RS with high estimates of €330,000 and €200,000 respectively. Elsewhere, a 1938 BMW 328 changed hands for €556,170 and a 1949 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500S Freccia d’Oro made €221,180.
