Porsche 75th Anniversary Sale preview

Broad Arrow Auctions embraces everything Porsche on 10 June when it joins the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta during its celebrations of the marque’s 75th Anniversary with 64 cars set to go under the hammer. Leading the entries is the 1969 Spa 1000 Kms class-winning 910, estimated at $2,800,000 – 3,400,000. Chassis 020 is believed to have been originally used by Porsche as a test vehicle for the Type 907, before being sold to William Bradley who campaigned it throughout Europe for three seasons. After its competition career came to an end Bradley retained the car until 1998, commissioning a four-year restoration that was completed in 1992.
Another car in the line-up boasting long-term ownership is a matching-numbers 1964 904 Carrera GTS, ordered by Italian entrepreneur and racer Ernesto Prinoth in Silver Metallic over Blue velour, and optioned with a 180 PS Type 587/3 four-cam engine and Sebring race exhaust system. Chassis 044 remained in Europe for four years, finding its way to the States in 1968 when it was purchased by Leslie Gunnarson who used it regularly over the next two decades, before being placed in storage until sold in 2021 following Gunnarson’s passing (estimate $2,400,000 – 2,800,000).
An uber-rare 1991 911 Carrera 4 Lightweight is guided at $850,000 – 1,050,000. One of only 22 examples built, its weight-saving aluminium doors, Plexiglas sliding windows and a stripped-out interior all contributed towards a reduction of more than 350kg. Showing a nominal 75km, it has formed part of a number of European collections, joining the consignor’s US collection in 2022.
Other highlights include a 94-mile 2016 911 R (estimate $500,000 – 600,000); a 42,812-mile 1979 911 Turbo, just two owners from new, with the first until 2019 (estimate $300,000 – 375,000); and a one-of-15 1981 924 Carrera GTS Club Sport, two owners and 3,600km (estimate $375,000 – 450,000).
