The Belgium seaside resort of Knokke-Le Zoute is once again set to host Bonhams’ Zoute Sale on 6 October, where the catalogue cover car is a 1968 Ferrari 365 GTC, presented in its original factory colour of Grigio Mahmoud (estimate €730,000 – 870,000).
A 2017 Mercedes-Benz Maybach G650 V12 Biturbo Landaulet will be offered directly from the Mercedes-Benz factory. One of only 99 built, it is the first example to come public auction and will be sold at no reserve, with all benefits to be donated to the charity ‘Laureus Sport for Good’.
Other limited-run vehicles consigned include; an 8,000-km left-hand drive 1993 Jaguar XJ220, number 31 of around 275 made (estimate €350,000 – 450,000); a 2,000-mile 2003 Aston Martin DB AR1, one of 99 produced (estimate €250,000 – 350,000); and a one-owner 1999 Aston Martin V8 Volante LWB – just 64 LWB Volantes were built (estimate €170,000 – 250,000).
Notable highlights also include; a 1973 Alfa Romeo Montreal estimated at €60,000 – 70,000; a 17,000-km 1989 BMW Z1 (estimate €55,000 – 75,000); and a 1967 Citroën DS 21 Décapotable by Chapron (estimate €190,000 – 220,000).
Bonhams heads south at the end of the month for its inaugural Padua auction, to be held at Auto e Moto d'Epoca, near Venice on the 28th.
Early entries include a 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster with a pre-sale estimate of €750,000 – 950,000; a 1960 Maserati 3500 GT Spyder at €600,000 – 700,000; and a 1967 De Tomaso Vallelunga, one of approximately 50 built (estimate €200,000 – 250,000).
A 1967 Ferrari 330 GTC tops the inventory at Coys’ Berlin sale on 7 October, estimated at €420,000 – 480,000.
Among the other lots; a 1948 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 which was delivered new to Spain, where it remained with its original owner for close on 40 years, is estimated at €280,000 – 350,000; a one-owner 44,000-km 2006 Ferrari 575M Superamerica is €300,000 – 350,000, and a three-owner 59,000-km 1980 Ferrari 512 BB is €250,000 – 300,000.
No fewer than 12 BMWs are set to cross the block at Oldtimer Galerie’s sale in Toffen, Switzerland on 14 October. A 1987 Alpina B7 Turbo Coupe – one of 130 built – showing 37,500km is estimated at CHF50,000 – 60,000; a one-owner 70,000-km 1981 745i Turbo is CHF15,000 – 20,000; a 1989 M3 Cecotto with 141,500km is CHF70,000 – 80,000; and a single-owner 56,000km Z8 is listed at CHF260,000 – 270,000.
Artcurial will hold a 55-lot single-marque Mercedes-Benz sale in Paris on 15 October, with 20 of the lots on offer coming direct from the private collection of Mercedes-Benz France. Star attraction is a 1955 300 SL Gullwing which joined the collection in 1994 and has since been driven sparingly (estimate €900,000 – 1,300,000).
Highlights among the plutocrat’s weapons of choice include a 37,500-km 1986 450 SEL 6.9 with driver division and armour plating, presented in an original unrestored state (estimate €70,000 – 90,000), and a 6-door 31,000-km 1968 600 Pullman Limousine which was the subject of a €300,000 restoration in 2013 (estimate €400,000 – 500,000).
Notable pre-war cars include a 1938 320 Cabriolet A, discovered in Latvia in the ‘90s (estimate €550,000 – 700,000); a 1937 540K Cabriolet B, exhibited at the 1937 London Motor Show (estimate €750,000 – 850,000); and a 1934 Nürburg 500 Sport, the only example known to exist today with a factory Sindelfingen Tourer body (estimate €700,000 – 850,000).
Elsewhere a 1961 300 SL Roadster, owned by Mercedes-Benz France since 2002, is estimated at €800,000 – 1,000,000; a 6,800-km 2009 McLaren SLR 722 S Roadster – one of 150 built – is €780,000 – 860,000; and a 39,040-km 1990 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II is listed at €170,000 – 190,000.
