RM Sotheby’s traditional Hershey sale, held during the Antique Automobile Club of America’s Eastern Division Fall Meet on 6-7 October, is headed by a 1930 Duesenberg Model J Dual-Cowl Phaeton. J-347 comes to the market after 54 years in single-family ownership and has a pre-sale estimate of $1,600,000 – 2,000,000.
Notable lots include an award-winning 1935 Auburn Eight Supercharged Speedster (estimate $900,000 – 1,200,000); a 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster (estimate $900,000 – 1,100,000); and a 1915 Pierce-Arrow Model 66-A-3 Touring (estimate $600,000 – 750,000).
Other entries include a 1934 Packard Super Eight Two-Passenger Coupe (estimate $120,000 – 140,000); a ‘garage-find’ 1957 Porsche 356 A 1600 Speedster that has been in single-family ownership since 1967 (estimate $200,000 – 250,000); and the oldest car in the sale – a 1903 Stevens-Duryea Model L Runabout – with complete known history from new (estimate $120,000 – 150,000).
Highlights among the pre-war entries at Bonhams 3 October sale in Philadelphia include a 1931 Lincoln Model K Convertible Coupe (estimate $90,000 – 110,000); a 1927 McFarlan Boattail (estimate $70,000 – 90,000); a 1926 Packard Eight 243 (estimate $70,000 – 90,000); and a 1930 Lincoln Model L (estimate $55,000 – 65,000).
European cars on offer include a 30,626-mile 1987 Ferrari Testarossa (estimate $90,000 – 125,000); an ex-Bib Stillwell 1950 Jaguar XK 120 Competition Roadster (estimate $60,000 – 90,000); and a 1967 Lotus Elan Series 3 (estimate $35,000 – 45,000).
