RM Sotheby’s annual London sale moves to a new venue at The Peninsula hotel, with the cars going under hammer on 2 November following a memorabilia sale the previous day. Star attraction is a 1957 Jaguar XKSS that carries a pre-sale estimate of £9,000,000 – 11,000,000. Chassis XKD 540 started life as a short nose D-Type, returning to the factory in 1958 for conversion to full XKSS specification at the request of its first private owner Phil Scragg.
RM’s Classiche-certified 1989 Ferrari F40 is a European-spec car with non-adjustable suspension and no catalytic converters. Owned by the consignor since 2009, it has covered 20,921km and is guided at £1,850,000 – 2,000,000. The Harrods-liveried 2020 McLaren Senna GTR LM on offer is one of only five examples built to celebrate the 25th anniversary of a McLaren F1 GTR winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Showing 1,003km from new, the single-owner track day car is being sold with a spare Senna GTR engine and a set of wet-weather tyres and wheels (estimate £1,600,000 – 2,000,000).
The 1936 Delahaye 135 S that Rob Walker drove to 8th place in the 1939 24 Hours of Le Mans is expected to fetch £1,000,000 – 1,500,000. Originally a Works-team car, it was raced extensively in period and remained in Walker’s stable from 1939 to 1953, before returning to the Walker family in 1970 where it has resided ever since.

Iconic Auctioneers heads to Birmingham’s NEC Classic Motor Show on 9 November, where one of the highlights will be an ex-Tim Harvey Ford Sierra RS 500. Campaigned by Harvey in 1989 and 1990 with two BTCC wins and a victory at the season-ending Macau GP race, it was prepared for historic events by Paul Smith in 2011 and is still finished in its original unrestored Labatt’s colours.
Other notable entries include a right-hand drive 1963 Maserati 3500 GTi Spyder, the subject of a £175,000 restoration in 2016 (estimate £400,000 – 500,000); a 19,992-mile 1989 Porsche 911 Turbo LE, one of only 53 produced (estimate £170,000 – 210,000); and a pair of Ford RS200s, one with 1,798 miles at £220,000 – 260,000, and an 8,877-miler at £190,000 – 210,000.

A 2008 Ferrari F430 with a desirable and rare manual gearbox is among the early consignments at Historics’ final sale of the year on 23 November. This time warp one-owner car has been serviced throughout by the supplying dealer, Maranello in Egham, and has led a cosseted life with less than 2,500 miles use (estimate £105,000 – 135,000).
Even rarer still is the 1975 Iso Lele Sport that is set to cross the block at H&H’s 27 November sale at Buxton. Reported to be one of just 12 right-hand drive examples built, it is catalogued at £35,000 – 45,000.
