A three-owner 1981 Lamborghini Countach LP400 S with a pre-sale estimate of £350,000 – 400,000 heads the entries at Silverstone Auctions NEC Classic Motor Show sale on 12-13 November. This left-hand drive example was recently restored to its original specification, after which the car received an engine-out mechanical fettling and inspection at renowned marque experts Keys Motorsport.
Other highlights include a 1957 Porsche 356A T1 Speedster, restored by an official Porsche Bodyshop (estimate £280,000 – 320,000); a right-hand drive 49,303-mile 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS (estimate £280,000 – 320,000); and a 1956 Bentley Continental, comprehensively restored in the late 80s (estimate £240,000 – 275,000); and a 1975 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 MFI (estimate £240,000 – 280,000).
German ‘youngtimers’ going under the hammer include a 12,600-mile 1989 Porsche 911 Turbo Flatnose (estimate £130,000 – 150,000); an 18,500-mile 1988 Porsche 928 S4 with one registered keeper from new (estimate £40,000 – 45,000); a 1990 BMW M3 Sport Evolution, showing 65,002 miles (estimate £95,000 – 115,000); and a 41,000-km 1990 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II (estimate £100,000 – 115,000).
Bonhams 14-lot London to Brighton Run Sale on 4 November includes a 1904 Renault Type NB 14/20hp Swing-Seat Tonneau (estimate £250,000 – 280,000); a 1904 Aster 16/20 HP Four Cylinder Rear-Entrance Tonneau (estimate £230,000 – 270,000); and a 1903 Renault Type NC 10hp Two Cylinder Wagonette (estimate £110,000 – 130,000).
Top lot at Anglia Car Auctions 5 November sale is a 1991 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC AMG 6.0, estimated at £90,000 – 120,000. Believed to be one of only around 50 wide-bodied examples built by AMG, the car was imported from Japan in 2016 and shows just 27,560km from new.
Among the 200+ lots on offer is a 37,000-mile two-owner 1986 Ford Escort Gartrac G6, one of 30 roadgoing examples (estimate £38,000 – 45,000); a 1974 BMW 3.0 CSA from the William Hunt collection (estimate £24,000 – 28,000); and a 35,000-km Mercedes-Benz E36 AMG Estate (estimate £18,000 – 22,000).
A 1961 Bristol 408 is set to go across the block at Charterhouse on 6 November with a pre-sale estimate of £32,000 – 36,000. The car is one of 83 examples built, and was in single-family ownership for 42 years prior to being the subject of a comprehensive refurbishment.
H&H’s 16 November Donington Park auction features a 1973 BMW 3.0 CSi with a pre-sale estimate of £28,000 – 32,000. The car has covered around 3,000 miles since the completion of a six year restoration and upgrade project which included a drivetrain transplant from an E34 BMW M5, along with improvements to the brakes and suspension.
Morris Leslie will offer a left-hand drive 1970 Jaguar E-Type Series II 4.2 Roadster in their 19 November sale. Originally delivered new to the USA, upgrades include power steering and air conditioning (estimate £50,000 – 55,000).
A 1964 Lotus Elan 26R Replica is among the early entries at Berlinetta’s second auction, taking place on 20-21 November. The car is based on a Series 1 Elan which was delivered new to Switzerland and subsequently converted to 26R specification in 1986. A recently completed two-year rebuild has resulted in a UK registered turn-key race car built to FIA Appendix K regs (estimate £55,000 – 65,000).
Star attractions at DVCA’s 23 November sale include a 1959 Jaguar XK 150 SE 3.4 Fixed Head Coupe, purchased by the late Paul Channon in 2011 following its body-off restoration (estimate £50,000 – 60,000); a two-owner 1968 Daimler V8 250 (estimate £9,000 – 12,000); and a 1928 Austin Heavy 12/4 Two Seat Tourer with Dickey (estimate £22,000 – 23,000).
Notable cars consigned to Brightwells sale on 23 November include the ex-Peter Sowerby Ferrari 360 Modena Challenge race car, now road legal (estimate £65,000 – 75,000); two recently restored 1973 Jensen Interceptors, each estimated at £25,000 – 30,000; and a left-hand drive 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL (estimate £35,000 – 40,000).
Historics at Brooklands round off the UK’s auction month with their 26 November sale. A 4,092-mile right-hand drive 1974 Ferrari 365 GT4 BB with a pre-sale estimate of £295,000 – 345,000 heads an impressive entry list which also includes; a recently restored 1968 Aston Martin DB6 (estimate £240,000 – 280,000) and a 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT, restored in 2014 by Kent High Performance (estimate £260,000 – 300,000).
Other highlights include a 9,940-mile 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG, one of only 100 produced (estimate £210,000 – 250,000); a 1939 Alvis 12/70 Special with recent competition success including wins at Mallory Park, Silverstone and Prescott (estimate £72,000 – 90,000); and a 1990 Lamborghini Countach Anniversary showing just 7,081km from new (estimate £230,000 – 260,000).
