Headlining Silverstone Auctions’ two-day NEC Classic Motor Show Sale is a 1991 Jaguar XJ220. The ex-Brunei royal family example shows just 5,782 miles on the clock and has a pre-sale estimate of £300,000 – 350,000.
Mid-engined Renault 5 Turbos rarely come up for sale at auction, but Silverstone have consigned a 1981 Turbo 1, with an estimate of £60,000 – 70,000 and a 1984 Turbo 2 is estimated £45,000 – 55,000. Other highlights include a 9,575-km 1992 Honda NSX (estimate £50,000 – 55,000) and a comprehensively restored 1974 Ford Capri RS 3100 with a pre-sale estimate of £45,000 – 50,000.
Fittingly, a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing (estimate £925,000 – 1,125,000) is the star attraction at Historics at Brooklands end of year sale, to be held in Mercedes-Benz World. Significant entries, among no fewer than 11 Ferraris going under the hammer, include; a 2012 599 GTB Alonso 60F1, one of only 40 made (estimate £240,000 – 280,000); and a 2005 360 Spider with only 81 miles on the clock (estimate £140,000 – 170,000). Also included in the sale is a 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Turismo with coachwork by James Young. Chassis 0411875 is a matching numbers car with a single cam engine and is believed to be the oldest known 1750 in existence (estimate £180,000 – 220,000).
Charterhouse will offer a 1997 Aston Martin V8 at their 7 November sale being held at The Footman James Classic Vehicle Restoration Show. The car started life as Aston Martin’s press and test car and has covered less than 36,000 miles (estimate £65,000 – 70,000).
Two of BMW’s sporting classics from the 1970s go under the hammer at Anglia Car Auctions’ 7 November sale; a 1973 3.0 CSL (estimate £75,000 – 85,000) and a 1974 2002 turbo with a pre-sale estimate of £29,000 – 35,000.
A 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8 Roadster is the top lot at Classics Central 8 November sale with a pre-sale estimate of £100,000 – 120,000. Other highlights include a 1994 Vauxhall Lotus Carlton (estimate £19,000 – 22,000) and a 1971 Ford Cortina Mk III (estimate £16,000 – 22,000).
Notable cars consigned to Morris Leslie’s 21 November sale include three Ford Cosworths; a 1987 Sierra RS Cosworth (estimate £50,000 – 60,000), a 1987 Sierra RS500 Cosworth (estimate £60,000 – 65,000) and a 1995 Escort RS Cosworth (£30,000 – 35,000).
Brightwells will be offering a 1983 Range Rover ‘Harrods’ by Wood & Pickett, at their 25 November sale. The limited edition cars were all painted in Harrods green livery with lavishly appointed interiors including; Recaro seats trimmed in Harrods green Connolly leather piped in tan to match the roof, a full-width burr-walnut dashboard, a computer key-pad lock for the ignition and a rear television with Betamax VCR. This example has covered just 32,445 miles and was part of the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust’s collection in Gaydon from 1998 until 2003 (estimate £25,000 – 28,000).
