An MG Metro 6R4 that Tony Pond debuted on the 1986 Monte Carlo Rally is set to cross the block at Iconic Auctioneers’ Supercar Fest Sale on 18 May, where it is expected to fetch £350,000 – 450,000. One of just nine Works cars built to 410bhp International Tarmac spec, it is offered in an unmolested preserved state having only had a short WRC career and minimal use by the consignor over the past 22 years.
Another time-warp car is a 9,955-mile 1989 Porsche 911 Turbo from the final year of production in Paint to Sample Minerva Blue with the desirable 5-speed G50 gearbox. In single-ownership from new, it comes with full Porsche service history up until 2005 when it was stored, remaining in a heated garage throughout its life (estimate £200,000 – 250,000).
Other notable entries include a 2002 TVR T440R – the ultimate iteration of the Speed Six era (estimate £190,000 – 230,000); a multiple concours-winning 1987 Ford Sierra RS 500 with only 12,805 miles (estimate £160,000 – 190,000); and a two-owner 49,960-mile 1988 Audi Quattro (estimate £50,000 – 60,000).

Historics is bringing a 168-lot catalogue to its next sale at the Farnborough International Exhibition Centre on 11 May, topped by a 2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Final Edition, listed at £330,000 – 360,000. Limited to 350 coupes and roadsters in total worldwide, Historics’ car is one of only six UK-supplied right-hand drive coupes and has covered 4,500 miles in the hands of three owners.
The sale also features a 1971 Porsche 911 built to ST specification at cost in excess of £275,000 (estimate £139,000 – 180,000); a 1984 Ferrari 512 BBi, recently given a cambelt service and showing just 16,706 miles (estimate £160,000 – 175,000); and a barely-used 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL with 2,700 miles (estimate £73,000 – 85,000).
