A 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 heads the entries at Silverstone Auctions’ inaugural single-marque Ferrari sale on 18 May. This matching numbers Daytona – one of 158 UK-supplied right-hand drive cars – has covered just 35,900 miles from new, and was treated to an engine rebuild and interior refurb in 2012 (estimate £500,000 – 575,000).
Notable highlights also include a 1974 Ferrari 365 GT4 BB (estimate £225,000 – 295,000); a 3,022-mile 2001 Ferrari 550 Barchetta, number 200 out of a total production run of 448 (estimate £325,000 – 375,000); and a 1984 Ferrari 512 BBi with 21,000 miles (estimate £210,000 – 240,000).
The following day Silverstone Auctions will offer an ex-Mike Hailwood 1966 Iso Griffo GL 350 among the 60-plus cars going under the hammer in its May Sale (estimate £220,000 – 260,000).
Also featured are a brace of AMG’s most extreme limited production CLKs. A two-owner 7,580-mile 2005 DTM – one of 40 right-hand drive examples – is estimated at £180,000 – 220,000; while a one-of-25 UK right-hand drive 2008 'Black Series' which has covered only 4,000 miles from new in the hands of a single owner is guided at £110,000 – 125,000.
Other low-mileage cars include a 3,578-mile 1987 Ford Sierra RS Cosworth (estimate £40,000 – 45,000); a 12,000-mile 1987 Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth (estimate £90,000 – 105,000); and a 16,092-mile 1980 Porsche 911 Turbo (estimate £125,000 – 150,000).
A 1935 Bugatti Type 57 Grand Raid Tourer is the undoubted star of the show at Tennants first sale of the year on 13 May. One of only ten ‘Grand Raid’ Type 57 Tourers produced, chassis 57324 features a four-seater body built by Corsica Coach Builders of Cricklewood, London and carries an estimate of £700,000 – 1,000,000.
In excess of 140 cars have been listed for Brightwells combined Modern and Classic sale on 16 May, topped by a 1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II 4.2 Coupe. The car was delivered new to California, where it spent the next 34 years in the hands of its lady owner. This left-hand drive example was the subject of a comprehensive restoration in 2010 by British Auto Specialists of Calgary at a cost of some £90,000, prior to being imported into the UK in 2015 (estimate £60,000 – 65,000).
Italian exotica set to go across the block at Historics at Brooklands on 19 May includes a 1974 Lamborghini Jarama S which has had circa £20,000 spent on it during the past five years (estimate £119,000 – 140,000); a 1982 Maserati Kyalami (estimate £32,000 – 37,000); and a 38,000-km left-hand drive 2006 Lamborghini Gallardo (estimate £48,000 – 58,000).
Elsewhere, a 61,000-mile 1997 Aston Martin Vantage V550 – one of 239 produced – is estimated at £139,000 – 159,000; while a one-owner 1982 Rolls-Royce Camargue with less than 5,000 miles from new is £60,000 – 75,000 and a recently restored 1966 Volvo P1800S is £24,000 – 28,000.
