Ascot Racecourse hosts Historics’ first sale of the year on 2 March, with a 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT topping the inventory at £210,000 – 250,000. Delivered new to its original owner in Italy, it was converted to right-hand drive at some point prior to the consignor’s purchase in 1987, remaining in storage for two decades before a recently completed overhaul and recommissioning at a cost of some £54,000.

H&H returns to the Imperial War Museum, Duxford on 13 March where early entries include a 1980 Porsche 911 Turbo that has covered 2,000 miles since emerging from a five-year, £60,000 refurb (estimate £100,000 – 120,000); a 1967 Lamborghini 400 GT showing 27,950 miles, one of four cars converted to right-hand drive when new by Hooper & Co. on behalf of UK concessionaires Mitchell & Britten (estimate £450,000 – 550,000); and an ex-Peter Sellers 1960 Bentley S2 Continental Drophead Coupe requiring restoration (estimate £120,000 – 150,000).
A 1979 Ford Escort RS2000 Custom is expected to fetch £45,000 – 55,000 when it goes under the hammer at WB & Sons’ 16 March sale. The subject of a recent rotisserie restoration, it comes with a photo book documenting the work, two sets of keys and receipts.
Classic Car Auctions is running a two-day sale at The Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show on 23-24 March, with a 1973 BMW 3.0 CSL from a deceased estate among the notable highlights. One of 500 UK-delivered right hand-drive cars, it’s in need of attention and although it has no history file the V5 records only three former keepers (estimate £60,000 – 70,000). The line-up also includes a 1971 Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 Roadster, restored and upgraded by marque specialists (estimate £80,000 – 100,000), and a time-warp 32,414-mile 1987 Ford Capri 2.8i Special that has been cherished by the owner from new (estimate £20,000 – 25,000).
