A 1989 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante X-Pack is one of the stars set to go under the hammer at Historics at Brooklands’ first sale of the year on 3 March. Resplendent in Chichester Blue, the four-owner car has covered 40,685 miles from new and is one of just 30 examples produced (estimate £280,000 – 320,000).
A brace of Bentley Continentals have also been consigned; a 1956 S1 Fastback is estimated at £275,000 – 310,000, and a 1960 S2 Flying Spur – one of 64 right-hand drive examples built with a six-light four-door configuration – is guided at £120,000 – 145,000.
Highlights among the Porsches on offer include a 17,822-mile 1992 911 RS which has been owned by the vendor since the car was six months old (estimate £220,000 – 250,000); a 1971 911 2.4S described as ‘museum quality’ following a comprehensive restoration in the early 2000s (estimate £165,000 – 190,000); and a 1992 944 S2 SE, restored by Rennsport in 2017 and believed to be one of just 14 SEs produced, is listed at £36,000 – 41,000.
Elsewhere a left-hand drive 1964 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 Series I carries an estimate of £230,000 – 270,000; a 1965 Jaguar E-Type Series I 4.2 Fixed Head Coupe, restored and upgraded by Sayer, is offered at £145,000 – 170,000; and a one-owner barn find 1972 Lamborghini Espada Series II which has covered just 31,607 miles from new is £50,000 – 60,000.
Brightwells’ 7 March sale features a 21,043-mile 2003 Porsche 911 GT3 (estimate £70,000 – 80,000); a 1975 Aston Martin V8 Series 3 (estimate £65,000 – 70,000); and a one-owner 54,700-mile 1985 BMW 635 CSi with a full service history from the supplying dealer (estimate £12,000 – 14,000).
A 1964 Volvo 121 is due to cross the block at DVCA the following day. The car has been in single family ownership since new and is well known among Volvo enthusiasts – winning the Volvo National Concours award on eight occasions (estimate £16,000 – 18,000).
Bonhams returns to Goodwood for its Members’ Meeting sale on 18 March, where a 2016 Ferrari F12tdf heads the lots on offer. The UK-supplied right-hand drive example has covered less than 150 miles from new and is one of just 799 produced (estimate £800,000 – 1,000,000).
Three cars have also been consigned with celebrity histories; a 1967 Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2, originally owned by Paul McCartney, is guided at £400,000 – 500,000; a 1991 Lamborghini Diablo, originally owned by Rod Stewart, is £120,000 – 140,000; and an ex-Nick Mason 52,871-mile 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS has a pre-sale estimate of £375,000 – 425,000.
Other notable highlights include a left-hand drive 1956 Lancia Aurelia B24 Convertible which requires some detail finishing following restoration (estimate £200,000 – 250,000); a 1921 Vauxhall 30-98 E-Type Velox Tourer – rebuilt between 1987 and 1992 by renowned marque expert Alistair Templeton (estimate £180,000 – 220,000); a 1937 Alvis 4.3-Litre ‘Short Chassis’ Tourer which has been owned by the Royal Automobile Club since 1994 (estimate £420,000 – 480,000); and a 1968 Fiat Dino 2.0-Litre Spider which was imported into the UK in 2002 (estimate £80,000 – 120,000).
Duxford’s Imperial War Museum will host H&H’s 21 March sale where the early entries include a one-owner 72,000-mile 1995 Honda NSX (estimate £52,000 – 60,000); a 1966 Aston Martin DB6 which has been stored in a heated garage since 1979 (estimate £170,000 – 210,000); a three-owner 37,200-mile 1966 Volkswagen Beetle (estimate £17,000 – 20,000); a 1973 Iso Fidia (estimate £55,000 – 65,000); and a 1977 Ferrari 512 BB (estimate £240,000 – 280,000).
Classic Car Auctions two-day sale at the Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show gets underway on 24 March. Highlights among the cars already consigned include a left-hand drive 1972 Alfa Romeo Montreal – the subject of a recently completed £28,000 restoration (estimate £50,000 – 55,000); a 1987 BMW M3 showing 130,000km (estimate £35,000 – 40,000); and a 1997 Renault Sport Spider, in single family ownership from new and with 8,000 miles recorded (estimate £20,000 – 25,000).
