Top lot at Bonhams’ Mercedes-Benz sale at their museum in Stuttgart on 28 March promises to be a 1938 540K Cabriolet A, with an estimate of €2,000,000 – 2,500,000. In total 45 cars have been consigned to the sale, ranging in age from a 1900 Benz Ideal 4½hp (estimate €230,000 – 280,000) through to a 2007 SLR McLaren (estimate €250,000 – 350,000). Notable entries include a 300 SL Gullwing (€950,000 – 1,250,000) and three 300 SL roadsters, plus a 1986 500 SL with less than 8,000 kms from new (estimate €75,000 – 90,000).
Headlining Osenat’s Fontainebleau sale is a 1939 Citroën Traction 15/6 Cabriolet, believed to be one of only three original examples produced at the time. Among the eclectic mix of cars offered at the sale is; a one-owner 1977 Ferrari 308 GTB, with 90,000 kms on the clock, finished in an unusual shade of brown – marrone metallizzato (estimate €30,000 – 35,000); and a 1965 Lancia Flaminia Super Sport Zagato with an estimate of €200,000 – 250,000.
