Bonhams announced a change of venue for its 19th annual Aston Martin sale on 2 June, this year hosting the event during the Aston Martin Owners Club’s celebration of the marque at Englefield House.
Open-top Astons head the 35-car inventory. A three-owner 1965 DB5 Convertible which received an engine upgrade to 4.2 litres is estimated at £850,000 – 900,000, while a 1970 DB6 – one of just 38 Mk2 Volantes – is £700,000 – 900,000.
Other highlights include a 1969 DBS V8 Prototype that was used by the factory as a development chassis (estimate £130,000 – 180,000); a restoration-project 1951 DB2, stored by the vendor since the late 1960s (estimate £40,000 – 60,000); and a 269-mile 2017 Vantage GT8 – one of 150 produced (estimate £175,000 – 200,000).
A bumper entry of over 180 motor cars will go under the hammer at Classic Car Auctions’ 2 June sale. Low-mileage Fords on offer include a 1980 Ford Fiesta Supersport with just 27,478 miles from new (estimate £15,000 – 20,000). A 1969 Capri 2.0 GT XLR which has been owned by the vendor for 49 years and shows 24,000 miles is estimated at £12,000 – 15,000, and a one-owner 6,755-mile 2010 Focus RS is listed a £30,000 – 35,000.
The sale also features a pair of 1985 Bitter SCs, a rare sight on UK roads with just 17 right-hand drive cars believed to remain out of a total production run of 31. The 80,600-mile example is estimated at £22,000 – 26,000 and a 106,000-miler which has been with the owner since it was nearly new is £20,000 – 24,000.
A 1975 Maserati Merak is the star attraction at Barons on 5 June. The right-hand drive model has been the subject of a nut-and-bolt restoration and is presented in its original shade of Verde Indy green (estimate £65,000 – 85,000).
The same day, H&H host their Motor Sport Hall of Fame sale at the RAC’s Woodcote Park. Notable entries include a 1924 Bentley 3 Litre H.J. Mulliner 'Simplex' Drophead Coupe which was restored during the ‘80s (estimate £340,000 – 380,000); a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTE 2+2 Series II (estimate £175,000 – 225,000); a 1965 Jaguar E-Type Roadster, built to semi-lightweight spec in 1991 (estimate £110,000 – 130,000); and a 1965 Maserati Mistral 3700, recently restored by marque specialists McGrath Maserati (estimate £180,000 – 220,000).
Early entries at DVCA’s 7 June sale include a 1908 Thomas Flyer 4/60 (estimate £150,000 – 250,000); a recently-restored two-owner 1974 Ford Escort Mk I (estimate £8,000 – 10,000); and a 1937 Delage D6 Olympique 3 Litre (estimate £30,000 – 50,000).
A 1981 BMW M535i with 141,436 miles has been consigned for Anglia Car Auctions’ 16 June sale. 1,410 E12s were hand-assembled by BMW Motorsport, of which just 450 were produced in right-hand drive (estimate £15,000 – 20,000).
A trio of Jaguar E-Types head to Brightwells Bicester sale; a single-owner 1969 Series II 4.2-Litre 2+2, displaying 1,733 miles and not used on the road for 40 years, is estimated at £75,000 – 85,000; a 1968 Series II 4.2-Litre 2+2 is £36,000 – 40,000; and a 1966 Series I 4.2-Litre 2+2 which was restored in 2008 is £35,000 – 40,000.
