RM Sotheby’s joins forces with Auctions America for this year’s Santa Monica sale from 24-25 June. European exotica mixed with home-grown classics provide a varied entry list which includes a 1992 Ferrari F40, showing less than 16,000-miles (estimate $900,000 – 1,100,000); a 2,739-mile 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO (estimate $650,000 – 750,000); a 1939 Lincoln-Zephyr “Scrape”, the first custom show car to sit flat on the ground (estimate $300,000 – 400,000); and a 1934 Packard Twelve Club Sedan (estimate $185,000 – 225,000).
Highlights among the Mercedes-Benzes on offer include a 1937 Mercedes-Benz 230 n Roadster, believed to one of around six known to still exist (estimate $200,000 – 250,000); a three-owner 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 3.5 Cabriolet (estimate $240,000 – 280,000); and a 2005 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren with less than 8,000 miles from new (estimate $260,000 – 290,000).
Elsewhere, significant entries include a one-owner BMW Z8 Alpina (estimate $215,000 – 245,000); a 1966 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage (estimate $275,000 – 325,000); a former Pebble Beach Concours-winning 1936 Bentley 3½-Litre Sedanca (estimate $275,000 – 325,000); and a three-owner 1995 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.8 displaying 24,520km (estimate $450,000 – 550,000).
Bonhams heads to Greenwich on 4 June for its annual sale where the star attractions include three Bugattis; a recently restored Type 49, believed to be a unique design by Labourdette (estimate $650,000 – 850,000); a 1993 EB110 (estimate $500,000 – 700,000); and a 1937 Type 57 Pillarless Sports Coupe with one-off coachwork by Graber (estimate $400,000 – 480,000).
Other highlights include a two-owner 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS with less than 30,000 miles from new (estimate $275,000 – 350,000); a 1929 Stutz Series M Four-Passenger Dual-Cowl Speedster, formerly part of the renowned AK Miller Collection (estimate $275,000 – 350,000); a recently restored 1939 BMW 327/328 (estimate $200,000 – 250,000); and a four-owner 1956 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL (estimate $80,000 – 120,000).
