A Ferrari LaFerrari tops the entries at Bonhams’ Goodwood Festival of Speed sale on 12 July with a guide of £2,800,000 – 3,400,000. The UK-spec car was delivered to its first owner by H.R. Owen in 2014 and has covered some 1,430 miles.
The ex-Works 1950 Aston Martin DB2 registered ‘VMF 65’ that was raced in period by Eric Thompson, George Abecassis, and Stirling Moss, amongst others, joins the line-up. Prepared as one of the three factory team cars for the 1950 Le Mans 24 Hour race, it was crashed en route to the event and returned to Feltham to be rebuilt. Subsequent outings included two RAC Tourist Trophy appearances, a podium finish at Goodwood and a role as press road-test car (estimate £800,000 – 1,200,000).
Among the notable Porsches on offer is a 34,000-km 1995 911 GT2, supplied new to Japan (estimate £1,100,000 – 1,500,000), and a pair of ultra-rare 1978 911 Turbo Martini special editions entered by the same consignor who has owned them for the past 20 years: the 1978 Earls Court Motor Show car in white with a Martini inspired interior and 138,000 miles (estimate £200,000 – 250,000), and the sole black example with only 28,000 miles from new (estimate £240,000 – 280,000).
Nine cars from The Tom Scott Collection are set to cross the block, highlights include a 1928 Mercedes-Benz 36/220 S-Type Four-Seated Sports Tourer with continuous history (estimate £1,600,000 – 2,500,000); a 1962 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster, recently recommissioned by Jim Stokes Workshops (estimate £1,000,000 – 1,200,000); and a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing, restored at the Daimler-Benz works in Kassel between 1989 and 1992, and, like the Roadster, also recently returned to the road by Jim Stokes Workshops after a period of static display since joining the collection in 2011 (estimate £950,000 – 1,100,000).

Historics is on its way to a bumper catalogue at the next sale at Windsorview Lakes on 20 July, with over 180 lots already consigned. Low-mileage cars include a restored 1978 Triumph Dolomite Sprint, believed to have covered only 3,725 miles (estimate £26,000 – 30,000); a 2019 Honda NSX in ‘as new’ condition with 432 miles (estimate £95,000 – 105,000); and a 17,596-mile 1992 Ford Escort RS Cosworth Lux that has just emerged from a meticulous refurb (estimate £72,000 – 85,000).
A UK-supplied matching-numbers 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250 SL is one of the stars among the early entries at H&H’s 24 July sale in Buxton. The subject of a bare-metal restoration between 2014 and 2016, it has been owned by its current custodian for 50 years and comes with a sought after hard top (estimate £100,000 – 120,000).
