H&H has lined up a fine selection of luxury motoring at its Buxton sale on 27 July, headed by a 1971 Mercedes-Benz 600 (estimate £90,000 – 110,000). Supplied new to Henry Cubbitt, 4th Baron Ashcombe, it was retained by its second owner for thirty two years, after which it received an overhaul of its air suspension and hydraulic system at renowned 600 specialists Worle Fahrzeugtechnik of Sygenstein, Germany, plus a repaint in Dark Velvet Green and a retrim in Cognac leather. The 600 is joined in the catalogue by a 1934 Bentley 3½ Litre with unique 'Figoni et Falaschi' style coachwork by Rod Jolley (estimate £80,000 – 90,000), and a 1973 Rolls-Royce Corniche finished in its original scheme of Regal Red over Red hide, recently the subject of a £6,700 mechanical refurbishment (estimate £28,000 – 32,000).
Elsewhere, a right-hand drive UK-market 2002 Renault Clio V6 is also set to cross the block, H&H indicating a pre-sale estimate of £40,000 – 50,000. The car was kept by the supplying dealer for 12 months before passing to the consignor, its only private owner. Now showing some 55,000 miles, it comes with a history file, MOTs, original book pack with stamped service schedule, and has covered less than 2,000 miles since receiving a £13,000 overhaul at marque specialists SG Motorsport.
Bidding for Brightwells’ next timed online auction opens on 30 July, where a 1961 Jaguar E-Type Roadster is one of the star attractions (estimate £75,000 – 90,000). The 3.8-litre Series I underwent a colour change to Carmen Red in the mid-1990s prior to the vendor’s purchase, with subsequent upgrades to the braking system and cooling, plus the installation of a 5-speed gearbox.
Historics returns to Windsorview Lakes in July with 180 cars on the roster. Highlights among the Italian machinery on offer include a 1973 Alfa Romeo Montreal, left-hand drive, recently serviced and 57,931km on the clock (estimate £60,000 – 75,000); a 1974 Lamborghini Espada Series III that resided in South Africa until imported into the UK in 2014 (estimate £75,000 – 85,000); and a 40,536-mile 2007 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder with a manual gearbox (estimate £68,000 – 76,000).
