Silverstone Auctions once again host their three-day July sale at the Silverstone Classic, with the Competition Car auction taking place on the 27th, followed by classics on the weekend. An ex-Tim Harvey 1991 BMW E30 M3, presented its original Labatt’s livery, carries a pre-sale estimate of £140,000 – 180,000. Residing in private collections since 1992, the car has more recently returned to the track, competing in the HSCC’s Super Touring Car Challenge.
Other highlights among the racing cars include a 1971 Lola T212 at £140,000 – 160,000; a 2010 Chevron B8 'Factory Continuation' at £100,000 – 120,000; a 1951 Tojeiro-Jap with period competition success in the hands of Archie Scott-Brown at £90,000 – 110,000; and the ex-Works 'Group A' Toyota Supra which was driven by Barry Sheene in the 1985 Trimoco RAC British Saloon Car Championship (estimate £60,000 – 80,000).
Early entries in the classic car sale include a 1989 Safir GT40 Mark V Continuation (estimate £170,000 – 220,000); an award-winning 1981 Porsche 911 Turbo, restored by Porsche Centre Leeds as part of a nationwide Porsche competition (estimate £125,000 – 145,000); 1973 De Tomaso Pantera to GT5 Specification (estimate £90,000 – 110,000); and a 1972 BMW 3.0 CSL, resplendent in Taiga Green (estimate £70,000 – 85,000).
A 1960 BMW Isetta complete with matching trailer is set to go under the hammer at Mathewsons on 8 July, with a pre-sale estimate of £17,500 – 19,500.
Aston Martins are much in evidence at Historics at Brooklands 8 July sale, including; a 32,370-mile 2004 DB9 at £26,000 – 30,000; a 1971 DBS V8 at £70,000 – 90,000; a three-owner 1967 DB6 at £290,000 – 320,000 and an earlier Mark I DB6 showing some 70,778 miles is £230,000 – 260,000.
Other notable lots include a recently-refurbished 1962 Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8 Roadster (estimate £125,000 – 150,000); a 27,500-mile 1989 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary (estimate £190,000 – 240,000); a 1981 Audi Quattro, run in period by David Sutton Motorsport (estimate £85,000 – 95,000); and a 47,000-mile 1989 Porsche 911 Turbo-body Speedster (£130,000 – 160,000).
Top lot at Brightwells on 12 July is a left-hand drive 2007 Ferrari F430 displaying 20,000km (estimate £70,000 – 80,000); while a 1979 AC 3000ME – stored since 2008 – is estimated at £12,000 – 15,000, and a four owner 1966 Alvis TF21 is £18,000 – 22,000.
Among the cars already consigned for Tennants 15 July sale is a 1962 Land Rover Series IIA Pickup (estimate £17,000 – 20,000); a 1954 Triumph TR2 (estimate £20,000 – 25,000); and a 51,000-mile 1957 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud I.
One of the stars at Charterhouse on 16 July is a 1949 Allard M Type 2+2 Drophead Coupe with competition history, estimated at £40,000 – 60,000. Pre-war offerings include a 1938 Fiat Topolino (estimate £8,000 – 9,000); a restored 1927 Buick Master Six Opera Coupe (estimate £20,000 – 22,000) and a 1927 Morris Oxford Super Sport Special (estimate £18,000 – 22,000).
Big-ticket entries at Barons July sale include a 25,200-mile 2002 Aston Martin Vanquish (estimate £75,000 – 85,000); a 1961 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk II BN7 (estimate £65,000 – 80,000); a recently restored left-hand drive 1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II Coupe (estimate £65,000 – 85,000); and a 1938 Lagonda LG6 which has spent 30 years in the US (estimate £80,000 – 95,000).
A 1929 Bugatti Type 44 heads the inventory at H&H’s sale on 26 July, estimated at £200,000 – 240,000). Chassis 44667 features a Vanvooren saloon body which was originally fitted to a T44 owned by Jean Jacques Peugeot. The car has covered some 8,500 miles since emerging from a comprehensive restoration by Wilkinson’s Coachbuilders in 1994.
Elsewhere, a left-hand drive 1972 Porsche 911S 2.4 Targa is estimated at £100,000 – 130,000; while a recently restored 1961 Lotus Elite which was supplied new to Gilby Engineering and raced by Keith Greene in period is £75,000 – 90,000, and a Bentley 4¼-Litre Sedanca Coupe is £180,000 – 220,000.
Highlights at SWVA on 28 July include a one-owner 1987 BMW 525i which has only covered 11,642 miles from new (estimate £9,500 – 10,000); a 28,400-mile 1987 Ford Capri 280 Brooklands (estimate £26,000 – 27,500); a restored 1957 Triumph TR3 (estimate £20,000 – 22,000); and a 1975 BMW 2002 tii with continuous ownership history from new (estimate £3,000 – 4,000).
