RM Sotheby’s returns to Michigan on 25 July for its annual Motor City sale held during the Concours d’Elegance of America event. In addition to the customary offering of American classics, sports and muscle cars this year’s event will include European sports cars and late model collectibles. Star attraction is an award winning 1935 Duesenberg Model SJ Dual-Cowl Phaeton with a pre-sale estimate of $850,000 – 1,100,000.
Notable American classics also include; a 1933 Packard Twelve Individual Custom Sport Phaeton in the style of LeBaron (estimate $400,000 – 450,000); a 1933 Auburn Twelve Salon Speedster (estimate $375,000 – 450,000); and a 1930 Packard Deluxe Eight Dual-Cowl Sport Phaeton, previously part of Ontario’s famous Craven Collection, with an estimate of $300,000 – 350,000.
Muscle car fans have an opportunity to get their hands on a car formerly owned by Carroll Shelby – a 1968 Shelby GT500KR convertible – with a pre-sale estimate of $190,000 – 240,000.
Notable highlights from the European offering include a 1952 Mercedes-Benz 300 Cabriolet D (estimate $275,000 – 375,000); a 1989 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe (estimate $100,000 – $125,000); a 2001 BMW Z8 (estimate $175,000 – 225,000); and a 1988 Lamborghini LM002 with a pre-sale estimate of $140,000 – 180,000.
