Coys' annual summer sale at Blenheim Palace will take place on 11 July, with Walter Röhrl’s 1983 Monte Carlo Rally winning Lancia 037 among the 120 lots on offer. Other notable cars include; a 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing; a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS Touring (estimate £400,000 – 500,000); a 1962 Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8 Semi-Lightweight with Goodwood and Tour Auto history (estimate £210,000 – 230,000); and the first right-hand drive Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona coupe to be delivered new to the UK. Originally imported by Maranello Concessionaires, the Daytona was sold by John Coombs & Sons to Dick Wilkins, at the time Dunlop’s racing manager. The four-day Silverstone Classic festival in July provides the perfect backdrop for Silverstone Auctions to host their sale of competition and classic cars. An ex-Gordon Spice 1979 Ford Capri is sure to attract much attention, not least due to the car’s eligibility for the popular Gerry Marshall Trophy race at the Goodwood Members’ Meeting (estimate £75,000 – 90,000). Sharing top billing in the classic car sale is a Lynx built Jaguar XKSS recreation (estimate £250,000 – 280,000) and a 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT – imported from Texas in 1988 (estimate £240,000 – 280,000).
H&H host two sales in July, with a pair of Chevrons topping the cars consigned for the first sale at Chateau Impney; a race winning 1968 B8 (estimate £180,000 – 220,000); and a 1973 B23/M36 (estimate £140,000 – 160,000). A chain drive 1926 Frazer Nash with continuous ownership history from 1933 to date goes under the hammer at the same sale with an estimate of £85,000 – 100,000. Meanwhile, fans of BMW’s elegant E9 coupes are well catered for with; a 2800 CS, supplied new to Lord Banbury in 1970 and in single-family ownership from 1975-2011 (estimate £12,000 – 16,000); a left-hand drive 1969 3.0 CS, used for circuit racing and hillclimbs in the 70s (estimate £20,000 – 25,000); and a 1972 3.0 CSL, the subject of a two-year restoration which was completed in 2015 (estimate £45,000 – 65,000).
At the end of the month H&H returns to Buxton with over 100 lots consigned. Sale highlights include a pair of low mileage Fords; a 1990 Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth with 29,000 miles (estimate £10,000 – 15,000); and a 30,000 mile 1978 Capri 3.0 Ghia (estimate £10,000 – 12,000).
A 1969 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage Volante is the undoubted star of Barons’ 28 July sale, with a pre-sale estimate of £500,000 – 750,000. If you would rather waft along with the roof down at a more sedate pace also consigned is a 1968 Rolls-Royce MPW Convertible (estimate £25,000 – 45,000).
Brightwells’ 15 July sale will feature a De Tomaso Pantera, first registered in Barcelona in January 1973. The car had just two Spanish owners before it was acquired by the vendor just over 20 years ago. In 1998 it was sent to England for a thorough overhaul by De Tomaso specialist Dick Puxty of Emilia Concessionaires (estimate £40,000 – 45,000). Other highlights include a restoration project 1969 Aston Martin DBS that has been stored since 1987 with a pre-sale estimate of £25,000 – 30,000.
Sherbourne Castle is the venue for Charterhouse’s 19 July sale, where the top lot is a 1922 Rolls-Royce 40/50hp (estimate £130,000 – 140,000). Rarely seen in the UK, three Edsel convertibles – all from the same collection – will go under the hammer; a 1958 Citation (estimate £28,000 – 32,000); a 1959 Corsair (estimate £28,000 – 32,000); and a 1960 Ranger, one of only 76 produced (estimate £32,000 – 36,000).
A 1933 Aston Martin 1½-Litre (estimate £125,000 – 135,000) and an elegant 1933 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Sedanca De Ville (estimate £110,000 – 130,000) head the vehicles consigned for DVCA’s 9 July sale.
A 1953 Austin-Healey 100/4 Le Mans Pre Production goes under the hammer at SWVA on 31 July. 'NUE 855' (originally registered as AHX 19) is number 19 of 20 planned pre-production models built by the Donald Healey Motor Company in Warwick prior to production at Longbridge. Only 19 were produced in total (it is believed AHX10 was never built) with no more than 10 examples thought to survive today. A two-owner car, in the vendor’s possession since 1955, it carries a pre-sale estimate of £60,000 – 80,000.
