The 2018 UK auction scene gets underway on 13 January when Coys returns to Birmingham’s NEC for the Autosport sale.
A 1967 Aston Martin DB6 Volante heads the five Astons on offer. The three-owner DB6 is one of just 140 Volantes produced and carries a pre-sale estimate of £500,000 – 600,000, while a 1995 Virage Volante Wide-Body which has covered less than 10,000 miles from new is expected to fetch £220,000 – 280,000.
Competition machinery includes a recently restored 1993 Ferrari F40 Michelotto LM Specification which was campaigned in the Ferrari-Porsche Challenge during the 1990s (estimate £800,000 – 1,000,000); a 1984 BMW 635 CSi, constructed in 2015 to Group A Touring Car specification (estimate £200,000 – 250,000); and a Lotus Exige GT3, built by Lotus to compete in the 2006 British GT Championship (estimate £60,000 – 70,000).
Elsewhere, top-tier cars include a left-hand drive three-owner 1983 Ferrari 512 BBi showing 56,000km (estimate £250,000 – 300,000); a two-owner 7,400-mile 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG (estimate £200,000 – 230,000); and a left-hand drive concours award-winning 1964 Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8 Roadster which has covered just 45,000 miles from new (estimate £120,000 – 150,000).
Early entries in SWVA’s 26 January sale include a 1973 Aston Martin V8 in need of recommissioning following 20 years in storage (estimate £22,000 – 26,000); a 1958 Jaguar XK 150 (estimate £34,000 – 37,000); and a 1972 Lotus Europa Twin Cam, the subject of a comprehensive restoration in the early 2000s (estimate £18,500 – 19,500).
A 1973 Hillman Avenger Tiger is set to go under the hammer at Anglia Car Auctions on 27 January. The car was restored after being discovered in a garage in 2007 and comes with a supporting photographic file, Rootes archive certificate and all previous ownership details (estimate £16,000 – 20,000).
