Once again a clash of dates for the Autosport International show and InterClassics Maastricht on 14 January sees Coys running two sales on the same day. Headlining the cars on offer at Birmingham’s NEC is a right-hand drive 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GT, with a pre-sale estimate of £250,000 – 280,000.
Competition cars set to cross the block include the ex-Waldegard 1977 Works Ford Escort Group 4 which finished second on the 1979 Monte Carlo rally (estimate £80,000 – 110,000); a 1963 Deep Sanderson 301 Coupe, with period history including the 1963 Le Mans 24 hour race (estimate £60,000 – 80,000); the ex-Airikkala 1979 Works Vauxhall Chevette HSR (estimate £60,000 – 80,000); and an ex-Hopkirk 1966 Mini Cooper S (estimate £40,000 – 60,000).
Other notable highlights include a 1960 Facel Vega HK500 (estimate £90,000 – 130,000): a 1985 Bentley Continental Cabriolet, first owned by Elton John (estimate £90,000 – 110,000); a three-owner 1953 Jaguar XK 120 Drophead Coupe, the subject of a recently completed four year restoration (estimate £85,000 – 100,000); and a 63,000-mile 1971 Range Rover ‘Suffix A’, delivered new to the Goodwood Estate (estimate £18,000 – 22,000).
SWVA’s 27 January sale includes a 1967 Austin Mini Cooper 1275 S with a pre-sale estimate of £23,000 – 26,000. The car was restored in the 80s and more recently the engine received a rebuild in 2015.
A 1957 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL (estimate £60,000 – 80,000) is one of the star attractions among the early entries at Anglia Car Auctions 28 January sale.
1970s BMWs include a restoration project 1974 3.0 CSL, a left-hand drive 1974 3.0 S, in single family ownership from new (estimate £4,000 – 6,000); and a 1974 3.0 CSA from the William Hunt collection (estimate £24,000 – 28,000).
Other highlights include a manual gearbox 98,000-mile 1995 Porsche 928 GTS (estimate £36,000 – 40,000); a 1972 Ford Capri GXL Broadspeed Turbo, exhibited at the 1973 Barcelona Motor Show (estimate £20,000 – 23,000); and a 1967 Lotus Elan S3 DHC (estimate £20,000 – 22,000).
