RM Auctions is due to offer ’The ACD Museum Gullwing’ at its 6-7 April sale in Fort Lauderdale, with all proceeds to benefit the current owner’s local YMCA in Jackson, Michigan. Chassis 7500071 covered 36,375 miles from new, having spent the last 50 years of its life on display at two museums, and carries a pre-sale estimate of $1,000,000 – 1,300,000.
Other big-ticket entries among an inventory of over 300 vehicles include a 36,600-mile 1962 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster which has been in single ownership for the past four decades (estimate $1,200,000 – 1,500,000); a 1969 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona, converted to a spider in 1978 by marque specialists European Auto Restoration (estimate $750,000 – 850,000); and a 2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS with less than 7,600 miles on the clock (estimate $425,000 – 475,000).
American machinery is much in evidence, notable highlights include a 1932 Packard Twin Six Individual Custom Sport Phaeton (estimate $375,000 – 425,000); a 500-mile 2006 Ford GT (estimate $325,000 – 375,000); a 1953 Chevrolet Corvette – the 147th of 300 built in the first year of production (estimate $240,000 – 265,000); and a 2003 Delahaye USA Bugnaughty Boattail Speedster, styled by Chip Foose as a tribute to the French cars of the 1930s (estimate $225,000 – 275,000).
A one-owner 1977 Porsche 911 Turbo with just 35,129 from new is listed at $100,000 – 130,000; while a 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC 6.0 AMG 'Wide-Body' is $100,000 – 150,000, and a restored 1985 Lamborghini Jalpa P350 is $90,000 – 100,000.
