A brace of Aston Martins feature at Richard Edmonds 14 April sale, headed by a 1968 DB6 estimated at £160,000 – 170,000. This Mark I example has been stored for the majority of the last 30 years, having covered some 1,000 miles during that time, and now requires recommissioning.
A 1972 V8 is offered with a pre-sale estimate of £90,000 – 100,000, and has been the subject of a recent major mechanical overhaul, with associated bills for £35,000 from a marque specialist.
Pre-war machinery set to go under the hammer at Charterhouse on 11 April includes a 1930 MG M-Type Double Twelve Replica at £38,000 – 42,000; a 1933 MG J2 Midget at £25,000 – 28,000; and a 1926 Citroën B12 Torpedo, estimated at £15,000 – 18,000.
Brightwells returns to Bicester for its 11 April sale, where a 1921 Vauxhall 30-98 E-Type heads the inventory (estimate £165,000 – 185,000); while a 1974 De Tomaso Pantera is listed at £90,000 – 110,000, and a 1967 Triumph TR5 – the first TR5 made to production spec – which has covered just 200 miles since the completion of a 12-year restoration, carries a guide of £50,000 – 60,000.
Other highlights include a 1933 Alvis Speed 20 which was bodied by Vanden Plas in 1937 as a Sports Tourer (estimate £75,000 – 85,000); a 1973 Jensen Interceptor Convertible (estimate £48,000 – 52,000); and a 1969 Porsche 912, resplendent in Bahama Yellow (estimate £32,000 – 37,000).
No fewer than 16 Jaguars have been consigned to Anglia Car Auctions’ next sale on 14 April, including a 66,000-mile 1973 E-Type Series III V12 Roadster with £44,000 of invoices (estimate £75,000 – 90,000); a one-owner 25,468-mile 1988 Lister XJS 6.0 with a manual gearbox (estimate £26,000 – 32,000); and a 1958 XK 150 3.4 Drophead Coupe which spend the first 42 years of its life in Australia (estimate £90,000 – 110,000).
A 1930 Nash 494 Straight Eight heads to Barons’ 21 April sale, estimated a £40,000 – 50,000. The seven-seater limousine with Sedanca de Ville bodywork was originally owned by Frederic Bennett, famous for importing the first Cadillac into the UK in 1903 and using it to complete that year’s 1,000 mile Reliability Trial. The Nash is believed to be the last known example of the model and has covered less than 100 miles since the completion of an award-winning restoration.
Cheffins hold their Vintage sale in Cambridge on 21 April where the star attraction is a 1927 Talbot 20/60. The boat tail tourer was found in the 1970s in a farmyard, after which noted Talbot specialist Bill Barrott commenced its long-term restoration (estimate £35,000 – 45,000).
A 1956 Morgan Plus 4 which was delivered new to South Africa and remained there until 2014 carries a pre-sale estimate of £22,000 – 26,000 at H&H’s Buxton auction on 25 April.
A notable highlight among the early entries at SWVA on 27 April is a left-hand drive 1961 Porsche 356B Super 90 Cabriolet. The car was originally delivered new to California, where it remained until arriving in the UK in 1987. Purchased by the vendor in 1988 for his wife, the car now shows just 22,400 miles (estimate £94,000 – 97,000) and has been meticulously maintained throughout their ownership, with past MOTs and annual service records to support the mileage.
