Brightwells launch their inaugural sale at Bicester Heritage on 5 April, with 63 lots set to go under the hammer. Star attraction is 1955 Aston Martin DB2/4 with a pre-sale estimate of £145,000 – 165,000.
Highlights include a 1961 Lancia Flaminia Convertible, which recently emerged from a 10-year restoration project (estimate £125,000 – 145,000); a 1923 Vauxhall OD 23-60 Kington Tourer – restored in 2011 (estimate £65,000 – 75,000); a left-hand drive 1955 Jaguar XK140 SE FHC (estimate £52,000 – 58,000); and a 1905 Riley 9hp V-Twin, believed to be the first production Riley made (estimate £47,000 – 52,000).
Birmingham’s NEC hosts Classic Car Auctions’ two-day sale during the Practical Classics Car and Restoration Show on 1-2 April. Heading the 200 lot inventory is a 1969 Aston Martin DBS Series 1 (estimate £80,000 – 90,000) and a recently restored 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk III – one of the last 3000s produced – which has been owned by the vendor since 1972 (estimate £75,000 – 90,000).
Other notable entries include a 1979 Porsche 911 Turbo (estimate £60,000 – 70,000); a twin-engined 1965 Citroën 2CV Sahara, restored in 2012 (estimate £60,000 – 65,000); a 26,600-mile 1990 Porsche 928 GT with a manual gearbox (estimate £48,000 – 54,000); and a two-owner 1985 BMW M635 CSi with 15,300 miles from new (estimate £40,000 – 50,000).
A barn find 1962 Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8 Fixedhead Coupe restoration project is estimated at £38,000 – 44,000. Chassis 282 is a two-owner car and has been stored since 1997.
Highlights among the BMWs on offer at Anglia Car Auctions on 8 April include; a 1976 BMW 3.0 CSL (estimate £90,000 – 120,000); a 1990 BMW M3 (estimate £33,000 – 38,000); and a 1993 BMW M5 3.8 Nurburgring (estimate £12,000 – 15,000).
A 1948 MG TC with minimal mileage since a comprehensive body-off 10 year restoration has been consigned to Charterhouse’s 12 April sale, estimated at £28,000 – 30,000.
Brightwells reverts to its traditional Leominster base for the Modern Classics sale on 20 April, where highlights include a 1998 Bentley Arnage Green Label (estimate £15,500 – 17,500); an 83,850-mile 1998 BMW M3 Cabriolet (estimate £8,000 – 10,000); a 1981 Rover SD1 3500 SE (estimate £2,500 – 3,500); and a 1994 TVR Chimaera (estimate £5,500 – 7,000).
Early entries at Barons sale on 22 April include a 50,000-mile 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 Convertible, with a manual gearbox (estimate £60,000 – 70,000); a recently restored 1963 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL (estimate £75,000 – 90,000); and a 1969 Porsche 912 (estimate £37,000 – 45,000).
Significant entries at SWVA on 28 April include a right-hand drive 1970 Jaguar E-Type with Eagle upgrades (estimate £37,000 – 39,000); a 1971 Citroën SM (estimate £27,000 – 29,000); a 1936 Peugeot 302 (estimate £8,500 – 10,000); and a left-hand drive 1965 Morris Mini Cooper 1275 S (estimate £33,000 – 35,000).
