April 2015 - UK auction previews
16 March, 2015
A 1950 Bristol 401 that has had £20,000 spent on it since 2008 will go under the hammer at Anglia Car Auction’s 4 April sale, with no reserve. Also included at the sale is a 33,058-km 1972 Alfa Romeo Montreal with an estimate of £24,000 – 29,000.
Top lot at Barons’ 21 April sale is a ‘barn find’ 1954 Bentley R Continental Fastback, with an estimate of £200,000 – 400,000, whilst four days later a 1948 Jaguar 3½ Litre will feature at Cheffins’ sale, estimated at £38,000 – 42,000.
A right-hand drive 1963 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL has been consigned for Charterhouse's 15 April sale, with an estimate of £60,000 – 70,000. Elsewhere, Classic Car Auctions will offer a 232,000-km 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500E in April, with a pre-sale estimate of £10,000 – 12,000.
H&H’s Duxford sale includes a 1960 Austin-Healey Sebring Sprite with an estimate of £80,000 – 100,000. Registered as ‘WJB 707’, the car began life as a Works rally car for Pat Moss/Ann Wisdom to use on the 1960 Tour de Corse. Later the same year the car was converted to a Sebring Sprite and raced with considerable success by Ian Walker in period.
A 1955 Land Rover Series 1, which has been the subject of an extensive restoration, will be offered at SWVA’s 24 April sale with an estimate of £7,000 – 7,900. No doubt the free-wheeling hubs, overdrive and watertight canvas roof were all appreciated during the vehicle's recent drive from the Scottish Highlands to SWVA's premises in Poole.
